Kevin Best OAM describes himself as “the happiest man alive” because of the career change he made in September 1977. After 25 years in stockbroking, at the age of 45, he became a full-time painter. Now, more than 50 one-man shows are behind him and Kevin Best is among Australia’s most popular landscape artists. He says nature has been his teacher since boy scouts and his classroom the snow, rivers, surf, gum trees and rocks of the Australian outdoors. Kevin Best has been described as a dreaming, soul-searching painter of his country. He delights in the colour and light of a land he has widely travelled and says his greatest privilege has been to attempt to depict its endless beauty, contrasts, climate and life in paint.
