Beavan is
renowned for vibrant canvases featuring the Australian landscape and its
wildlife, especially birds. He is credited with possessing a unique ability
to capture the mood of Australia and once was described as a bushman who
lives in the city. His links with the Australian bush were forged in the
Western District of Victoria where he spent most of his boyhood. Today
Bill is surrounded by the subjects he loves to paint. Outside Melbourne,
on the Mornington Peninsula, he has created wetlands from degraded farmland.
Some 36 species of birds including Australian swans share the property
on which Bill has built his home and studio. Even koalas sleep-over in
his trees.
